Dr. Sujeeva Setunge
Dr. Sujeeva Setunge
professor and the Deputy Dean Research and Innovation for the school of Engineering at RMIT University

Sujeeva Setunge is a professor and the Deputy Dean Research and Innovation for the school of Engineering at RMIT University in Melbourne Australia. In her current role she is leading the research portfolio of seven Engineering disciplines at RMIT University. Prior to this appointment she has been the professor and head of Civil Engineering discipline at RMIT.  Before joining RMIT University she has been a lecturer and Senior lecturer at Monash University where she also completed her Ph.D in structural Engineering.

Sujeeva currently contributes to teaching structural design courses in the Civil Engineering program at RMIT.   Her current research interests focus on disaster resilience and optimised asset management of buildings, bridges, drainage and seaport infrastructure and development of innovative and sustainable construction materials using nano-science based technologies.  She is currently leading seven industry funded projects in these areas.

Sujeeva is the chair of the research committee of the Centre for Pavement Excellence- Asia Pacific and a committee member of the UNISDR working group on construction policy and practice for disaster resilience. She is a fellow of Engineers Australia and a Chartered professional Engineer.

Dr. Dilan Robert

lecturer in Civil Engineering at RMIT University.

Dr Dilan Robert is a lecturer in Civil Engineering at RMIT University. He obtained his first degree (2005) from Moratuwa University, Sri Lanka and the PhD degree from University of Cambridge, UK in 2011. Prior to his current position at RMIT, he has worked 2 years as a geotechnical engineer in the UK and 2 years at Monash University, Australia as a research fellow. Dr Robert has published over 50 peer reviewed technical papers in soil-structure analysis since 2011.

Dr. Vikram Pakrashi

Lecturer in Structural Engineering, School of Engineering

Dr. Vikram Pakrashi is a lecturer in structural engineering, Civil and Environmental Engineering, School of Engineering, University College Cork. He is a Chartered Member of the Institute of Engineers, Ireland. Vikram’s research interests are in dynamical systems and infrastructure maintenance management. He is the director of Dynamical Systems and Risk Laboratory in the School of Engineering, UCC. Vikram is a Civil Engineering graduate from Jadavpur University, India and he received his doctorate from Trinity College Dublin, Ireland. He was a postdoctoral research fellow in Trinity College Dublin, Ireland and was then employed as a chartered civil engineer in Roughan and O’Donovan Consulting Engineers. Vikram is the founder of Engineers Without Borders (EWB)– Ireland: UCC Chapter and is a member of the National Executive Committee, EWB-Ireland as the head of learning.

Nigel Powers

Project Director – North Western Projects, VicRoads, Wendouree, Victoria, Australia

Nigel is currently the Project Director – North Western Projects for VicRoads and leads the development and delivery of over $1B AUD worth of road infrastructure projects in the North and West of the State of Victoria. He has over 16 years experience with bridges and structures and has fulfilled various roles including the planning, design, construction, maintenance and operation of bridges and other road structures.
Nigel has a passion for bridges which has led to leadership roles on the Austroads Bridge Task Force and the Standards Australia Committee reviewing AS5100 – Australian Bridge Design Code. He also has a passion for working with academia to further research in the industry which has led partnering with various Universities to undertake research on bridge maintenance, management and rehabilitation. In 2014 Nigel formed the Australian branch of IABMAS and is the founding President.
